Self-sufficiency in vegetables for residents of the Saratov region is growing every year. A significant contribution to the overall performance is made by greenhouse production. Thus, since the beginning of the year, 5741.2 tons of vegetable products have been grown in greenhouses (148% compared to last year).

The bulk of the total volume is cucumbers. According to the operational data of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, 5584.7 tons have been produced to date. 84.3 tons of tomatoes were grown, other greenhouse vegetables – 72.2 tons.
“Enterprises of the industry continue to improve production by introducing new promising technologies that allow us to provide high quality parameters,” emphasizes Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Agriculture of the region.

This week, one of the greenhouse enterprises – REHN LLC – was visited by the head of the region, Valery Radaev, who was accompanied by the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the region, Roman Kovalsky, and the head of Saratov, Mikhail Isaev.
As the minister said, the main type of products produced by the enterprise are cucumbers and tomatoes. The area of ​​greenhouses is 37.2 hectares. In February of this year, a block of winter greenhouses with electric lighting and a boiler house were commissioned here, an additional power line from the modernized electrical substation is being built. In addition, the construction of new glass greenhouses on an area of ​​3 hectares is planned for 2022.
“In the current situation, it is important to establish direct supplies of greenhouse vegetables so that the sale of products is not only in neighboring regions, but also in the Saratov region. It is necessary that the farm provide our residents with vegetables at affordable prices,” the Governor said.
Now greenhouse vegetables of REHN LLC can be purchased at producer prices at the city markets, in particular, at the market on Rakhova Street and in the Covered Market. The plans of the enterprise include the organization of trade from mobile shops-trailers. Saratov vegetables are also in demand outside the region: they can be found on sale in cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Penza, Yekaterinburg.
