Predatory insects must deal with pests.
9000 individuals of predatory insects – macrolophus were brought to Magadan. Bedbugs were sent from the Republic of Adygea to the agro-industrial complex “Talaya”. There, predatory insects will be settled in greenhouses to fight pests, the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Khabarovsk Territory, the Jewish Autonomous and Magadan Regions told MagadanMedia.
Macrolophus is a polyphagous bug, meaning it feeds on other types of insects. Moreover, the menu is a wide range of pests of agricultural crops. Thanks to this feature, macrolofus is used as an effective method of biological protection. In other words, the little green bug is a versatile soldier guarding various plants in the nightshade, gourd, and ornamental families.
– With the help of macrolofus in Magadan vegetable greenhouses they will fight aphids (melon, peach, common potato) and spider mites. Also, the predatory bug is designed to combat the greenhouse whitefly and thrips (tobacco, western flower), – said Igor Kim, deputy head of the department for the Magadan region of the territorial administration of Rosselkhoznadzor.
In total, since the beginning of 2022, the territorial Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor has carried out control of 95,213 animals imported into the territory of the Magadan Region: aquarium fish, ornamental birds, mollusks, and small rodents. Violations in the field of veterinary medicine were not revealed.
