In response to increases in global demand for its retractable roof greenhouses, cooling houses and field covering systems, Cravo is expanding its production, warehouse, outdoor storage and shipping facilities.

“We have seen a dramatic increase in the number and size of new projects especially after the start of the pandemic,” says Richard Vollebregt, President of Cravo. “Investor and grower activity is high as they look to fill increased demand for high quality fresh berries, fruits and vegetables.”

Cravo is expanding its production, warehouse, outdoor storage and shipping facilities.

Factors helping drive demand for retractable roof houses include growers wanting to:

Fill gaps in the market which is causing production to move to warmer climates.
Improve food security by bring production closer to home.
Protect against more frequent extreme weather conditions.
Reduce chemical residues to meet more stringent regulations.
Reduce labor requirements through increased automation and regulating daily requirements for harvesters.
Grow more sustainably (it can cost as little as US$50 per hectare per year to operate the retractable roof and water saving in excess of 50 percent are possible when covering outdoor crops).
