The Russian Research Center “Applied Chemistry (GIPC)” of the State Corporation Rostec at the 23rd international exhibition “World of Glass-2022” presented innovative NEVAFLON ETFE fluoropolymer films, which in the near future will be able to successfully replace glass in the agricultural industry.

“Today, import substitution, selection of the best Russian technologies, search for new Russian suppliers and building new supply chains have come to the fore. The advantages of NEVAFLON ETFE films will allow us to occupy the niche that until now belonged to foreign companies,” said Yulia Kruglova, First Deputy General Director of the Russian Research Center for Applied Chemistry (GIPC).

The use of ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene) fluoropolymer films will significantly increase agricultural production through the use of the full spectrum of natural daylight. The glass and polyethylene used in the construction of greenhouses and greenhouses transmit only 5% of the rays of the solar spectrum necessary for plants. Due to the high light transmission (95%) and ultraviolet light transmission (over 90%), higher yields and better plant health are ensured compared to traditional glass greenhouses. Fluoropolymer films can also be used in lightweight, winterized garden structures for growing seedlings, enabling businesses to meet all the needs of their customers.

“If we talk about ETFE brand films as an alternative to glass for the construction of greenhouses and greenhouses, then it is obvious. This material is much lighter than glass, has almost 100% light transmission, is strong, durable, anti-drop, easy to repair, and has the ability to control heat and UV transmission. Obviously, the future of the agricultural industry lies precisely with such materials,” said Pavel Zakharov, head of the investment project of the Russian Research Center for Applied Chemistry (GIPC).

Also, ETFE brand films are successfully used in construction to create complex, long-span engineering solutions and curvilinear shapes. This lightweight material, which minimizes the complexity of the supporting structure, ensures the safety and environmental friendliness of urban infrastructure intended for a large number of people.

NEVAFLON fluoropolymer films of grades ETFE, PVDF, FEP and PFA are produced by a high-tech method of flat slot extrusion of a fluoroplastic melt. All brands of NEVAFLON films can be used for at least 50 years without loss of properties, have excellent chemical resistance, lightness, light transmission, fire resistance, high physical and mechanical characteristics, and can also be repeatedly processed into a secondary granule while maintaining basic properties.

The press release has been prepared on the basis of material provided by the organization. AK&M news agency is not responsible for the content of the press release, legal or other consequences of its publication.
