The creation of world-class greenhouses in agricultural production is one of the priorities of the authorities, the minister said.
More than 1,600 loans worth 132 million lari ($48.9 million) were issued for the creation and development of greenhouse farms in Georgia within the framework of the state program “Preferential Agrocredit”, where state co-financing is more than 21 million lari (7.8 million dollars) , said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Otar Shamugia.
The Ministry of Agriculture is actively working on the development of agriculture and is implementing programs to help farmers for this. One of the largest is “Preferential Agrocredit”, which provides targeted loans to farmers at a low rate.
“In order to promote the growth of agricultural production, the state is implementing many projects. These projects provide financial, technical and marketing support to farmers. Creating world-class greenhouses in agricultural production is one of our priorities,” Shamugia said.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the governor of the Imereti region, inspected a greenhouse facility in the village of Partskanakanevi, Tskaltubo municipality.
Farmer Givi Burjanadze invested 150,000 lari ($55,600) to equip a greenhouse facility. Including 99 thousand lari (36.7 thousand dollars) – a preferential agricultural loan. The farm employs four people. Products are sold in export markets.

In total, more than 700 loans worth 37 million lari ($13.7 million) have been issued in the direction of the creation and development of greenhouse farms in the Imereti region, co-financing issued by the agency is more than 6 million lari (2.2 million dollars).
