In 2022, in the Tambov region, the gross harvest of greenhouse vegetables amounted to 27 thousand tons.
In recent years, greenhouse vegetable growing has been actively developing in the region. In the region there are 2 large greenhouse complexes with a total area of 46 hectares – Teplichnoye JSC and Teplichny Kombinat Michurinsky LLC. The enterprises grow cucumbers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, as well as green crops.
Currently, greenhouse complexes are working on laying a new crop of vegetables, which will go on the shelves of Tambov stores in January.
Greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes from local producers have been repeatedly awarded as the best greenhouse vegetable products. More than 70% of all vegetables are sold in the region in federal and regional chain stores, and are also in demand in the capital of Russia and other regions.
“Already in 2023, it is planned to increase the production of greenhouse vegetables by 1.5 times in our region. This will be done through the implementation of an investment project for the construction of the second stage of a greenhouse complex with a capacity of 30 hectares in Michurinsk. When reaching full design capacity, the gross harvest of greenhouse vegetables will increase by 17 thousand tons per year,” said the Head of the region Maxim Egorov.
