The core area of Pinghu Agricultural Economic Development Zone, covering an area of 3 square kilometers, has introduced more than 30 new agricultural projects.
On January 12, at the Lancheng Modern Plant Factory in Pinghu Agricultural Economic Development Zone, Zhejiang, workers checked the growth of vegetable seedlings, picked fresh vegetables. While all kinds of phalaenopsis were in full bloom, workers also transplanted phalaenopsis, and cared for ornamental plants. In the mid-winter season, in the modern greenhouse of more than 300,000 m2 in Pinghu, various vegetables, flowers, and fruits are growing well, showing a scene like in spring.
The plant factory uses a variety of compound physical agricultural technologies to prevent insects, achieve soilless and pesticide-free production. They plant more than 12 rotations per year, achieving an annual output of 50,000 kilograms.
Fish-vegetable symbiosis
The Zone also possesses a fish-vegetable symbiosis system demonstration park, where workers are fishing for farmed sea bass. The system integrates aquaculture and hydroponic cultivation, and realizes a small ecological symbiosis system that shows that fish farming does not need to change water. The water in the basin is clear and vegetables can grow without fertilization”.
The Pinghu Agricultural Economic Development Zone covers an area of 55.8 km2 and has 11 villages and 1 community under its jurisdiction. It is the first agricultural economic development zone in the Zhejiang Province, and it is also a demonstration site for the revitalization of provincial cooperative villages, as well as a provincial-level modern agricultural park.
It aims to promote the research and development of modern agricultural provenance, the transformation, transfer, and incubation of advanced agricultural scientific and technological achievements at home and abroad. The extension of the industrial chain, increase the added value of agricultural products, are a core business of the project, in order to realize the integrated development of industry and villages, and help agricultural modernization and rural revitalization.
