A large investment project in the south of the island is being implemented by State Farm Teplichny JSC. It is planned to build a modern complex of greenhouses with an area of 6.9 hectares. Now the first stage of 2.9 hectares is being built. Implementation of the project already at the first stage will allow the enterprise to increase the gross volume of production of protected fresh vegetables of soil from 8 to 10 thousand tons per year, as well as to expand the range of products, for example, peppers. The enterprise has been a resident of the Yuzhnaya advanced development territory since August 2016, SakhalinMedia news agency reports.

In July 2022, during his working trip to the region, Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation, gave a positive assessment to the project. He noted the importance of commissioning new agricultural enterprises in terms of providing the Far East with fresh, high-quality products at the most affordable prices.

For the construction of a greenhouse complex using modern environmentally friendly technologies, including light culture, the Teplichny state farm has prepared an investment plan for 1 billion rubles. The new greenhouses will be large in comparison with those that the enterprise currently has – 6 meters in height. They are equipped with efficient lamps. This will increase the production of greenhouse vegetables, opening up the possibility for the enterprise to supply its products to other regions.

Today, thanks to the assistance from the regional authorities, State Farm Teplichny JSC uses an electric lighting system throughout the entire area of the complex, which allows vegetables to be produced without technological interruptions even in the winter months.

The Government of the Sakhalin Region provides extensive state support, including greenhouse vegetable growing, due to which our farms have the opportunity to actively develop, create additional greenhouse complexes and offer consumers a wider range and volume of products, – said Inna Pavlenko, Minister of Agriculture and Trade of the Sakhalin Region.

A wide range of subsidies is provided for agricultural enterprises in the region. Compensation for network gas is 20%, for coal – 70%. For greenhouse enterprises in the region there is a preferential tariff for electricity in the amount of 30% of the industrial one. According to representatives of the expert community, this is one of the most successful examples of assistance to agricultural producers in the context of the regions of the country.

According to the latest statistics, at present, the provision of greenhouse vegetables per inhabitant of the region has reached 100%. Over the past three years alone, thanks to the construction and modernization of greenhouse complexes in the island region, the harvest of greenhouse vegetables has increased by more than 2,000 tons per year. The Sakhalin Region has taken the first place in the production of greenhouse vegetables among the Far Eastern regions.
