In May, the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Orel and Kursk regions monitors the quarantine phytosanitary condition of greenhouses in the Oryol region on a total area of 20.1 hectares.
On the territory of the greenhouses of Prompark LLC, Novosilsky District, EcoProduct LLC, Bolkhovsky District, Agroindustrial Company Kumir LLC, Orlovsky District, and Orel City Municipal Unitary Enterprise Zelenstroy, inspectors placed 289 pheromone and colored glue traps on a complex of quarantine objects of protected ground, in including the South American tomato moth and the western flower thrips.
After the traps are removed (in about 3-4 weeks), they will be sent to the laboratory of the Oryol branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “TsNMVL” for research and identification of the collected insects.
The presence of quarantine organisms will be the basis for the introduction of a quarantine phytosanitary regime.
Pheromone traps are used for rapid assessment of the phytosanitary state, localization and elimination of foci of invasive species, as well as suppression of the number of quarantine pests in greenhouses. Unlike pesticides, the effect of pheromones is not toxic, and therefore their use does not adversely affect the quality of agricultural products and does not pose any risk to the environment.
Farmers and owners of greenhouses should remember: in case of detection of a quarantine pest or signs indicating its presence, it is necessary to immediately inform the territorial Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor by phone in Orel (4862) 76-14-69.
