Further in the story Repair of the Chervishevskaya interchange in Tyumen will be completed by the beginning of the school year
A smart city-farm was created at the X-BIO Institute of Tyumen State University. Its task is to obtain a technology useful for large greenhouses and open ground, the press service of the university reports.
The experiment consists in the fact that the robot, connected from the neural network, moves along the rows of plants, takes pictures and determines what each of them lacks. This may be a lack of trace elements or some kind of disease. Scientists also empirically determine how a plant behaves with a lack and excess of nitrogen. In addition, special sensors record the parameters of humidity and temperature.
Currently, laboratory scientists are working with strawberries. In the near future, a vertical farm will appear here, where they will explore tomatoes, cucumbers and dwarf raspberries.
Experts note that the humidity for strawberries grown here is maintained at an optimal level – 60%. There is a filter that purifies the air of bacteria, creating a clean zone. In industrial agrobiocomplexes, plants suffer from bacterial and viral diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies. Therefore, in the future, scientists are going to study pests and entomophages that destroy them.
Most of the equipment used in the laboratory is Russian-made. Working on it allows you to analyze the compatibility of different elements with each other. Thus, scientists can advise entrepreneurs on which equipment is more reliable – on which it is more profitable to grow a particular crop.
According to the rector of Tyumen State University Ivan Romanchuk, automated complexes for growing crops are a promising area of research and development, relevant in the framework of import substitution of food technologies.
“Here, using “live” examples, the methods of the latest technologies are being worked out when creating environmentally-oriented agro-biotech complexes. It is important for us that new methods quickly acquire an industrial scale. This is a complex interdisciplinary area of research at the intersection of biological and chemical, technical and agricultural sciences,” said he.
We add that the work in the laboratory is carried out within the framework of the project of the West Siberian Interregional Scientific and Educational Center “Intelligent system of biological plant protection in modular agro-biotech complexes”.
