In a proactive move towards enhancing environmental sustainability and addressing forest recovery needs, a significant investment project is underway near Tyumen. Scheduled for completion in June 2024, the first phase of a massive greenhouse complex designed for saplings of coniferous trees is nearing finalization. Spearheaded by “GK-Active,” the project aims to cultivate approximately 12 million saplings annually with closed root systems across a sprawling 6.4-hectare site.
The initiative, supported by the regional Department of Investment Policy, represents a forward-thinking approach to forest management post-wildfires. It underscores a strategic effort to rehabilitate forest ecosystems through the systematic cultivation of coniferous species critical for forest regeneration. These trees will play pivotal roles in bolstering woodland resilience and supporting various forestry applications.
Upon full completion, the complex will feature four greenhouse facilities alongside areas designated for sapling acclimatization and a nursery specializing in ornamental plants. This multifaceted infrastructure not only promises ecological benefits but also signifies a promising investment opportunity in sustainable agriculture and forestry innovation.
