Beaulieu Technical Textiles (BTT) is proud to announce its groundbreaking Agrolys® flame-retardant (FR) groundcover. It’s the world’s first woven halogen-free groundcover that is compliant with the Class 1 NTA 8825 norm for fire safety.
White groundcovers in greenhouses are highly light-reflective. As a result, they stimulate growth or coloration of fruit, vegetables, herbs, flowers and plants. This increases crop yield and quality due to the additional diffuse light from the ground. As such, these reflective fabrics form an integral part of any greenhouse construction.
“Greenhouses are about more than just crop yield. That’s why we developed Agrolys to be both halogen-free and flame-retardant. The absence of halogens means Agrolys completely harmless to humans, and its flame-retardant properties help severely limit the spread of fire and smoke in case of an emergency,” explains Frederik Bouteca, General Manager of BTT.
Agrolys is the world’s first halogen-free FR woven groundcover that meets the flame-retardant standard set out in NTA 8825 Class 1. In addition, it is compliant with ENT13501-1 Class B S1 norms to contain smoke and it also meets the NFPA 701 National Fire Protection Standards.
“Agrolys takes a broad look at all kinds of environmental and health factors,” adds Mr. Bouteca. “Not only does it help grow crops, protect against fire and makes sure that greenhouse workers remain in good health, it is also 100% recyclable after its lifecycle ends.”
Agrolys WH FR is available in 100gr/m² and 130gr/m² varieties. It was designed and is currently produced at the Beaulieu Technical Textiles plant in Comines-Warneton, Belgium.
