Uzbekistan’s agricultural landscape is poised for transformation with the inauguration of an innovative agricultural complex in the Gallaaral District of Jizzakh Oblast. Spearheaded by the Agrobank team, one of Uzbekistan’s leading banks, this ambitious fruit and vegetable project integrates cutting-edge technologies aimed at bolstering agricultural productivity and sustainability.
Unveiled in June 2024, the project spans over 20.4 hectares and features a state-of-the-art laboratory complex dedicated to the cultivation of fruit and decorative plant seedlings. This initiative marks a significant step towards modernizing Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector and positions the country as a pioneer in Central Asia.
Central to the project is the Agro In Vitro laboratory, equipped to cultivate and adapt 40 varieties of plants, including 6,000 certified foreign fruit, grape, and decorative plant seedlings sourced from Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Turkey. These certified high-quality seedlings have been carefully adapted to thrive in Uzbekistan’s diverse climatic conditions.
The local cultivation of high-yield seedlings from export-grade varieties aims to enhance Uzbekistan’s competitiveness in international markets while bolstering food security within the country. By leveraging advanced agricultural practices and international collaborations, Uzbekistan is poised to carve a niche in global agricultural trade and meet growing domestic food demands sustainably.
