Pupils of kindergarten No. 70 “Rossiyanochka” participate in the “Delhi for three” project, grow vegetables in a greenhouse, get acquainted with the flora and fauna of Kamchatka.
The Delhi by Three educational project to promote separate waste collection was organized by the Russian Environmental Operator. Kamchatka was one of the first to join the action, the purpose of which is to form a culture of waste management and environmental traditions among students.
The Delhi by Three project is intended for implementation in schools, but preschool education organizations of the region also support the action. MADOU “Kindergarten No. 70” of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky urban district “Rossiyanochka” was actively involved in the process.
“This project is aimed at acquainting children with separate waste collection: what is it for, what is the use of garbage recycling, what harm does garbage cause to nature. Now, mainly children of senior and preparatory groups are engaged, we also have developed classes for children of middle groups, a project is being developed for the second younger group, with games and conversations understandable for children of three to four years old, ”said the educator, head of the creative group“ My Kamchatka Oksana Popova.
Other preschool institutions also plan to join the Delhi by Three project, it is planned to create a common portal where colleagues from different educational institutions could exchange experiences and best practices within the framework of the project.
“The problem of garbage is so objective now that we need to solve these problems. When we conducted the survey, 89% of parents supported us in giving children such knowledge that they themselves are happy to engage in waste separation, but so far there are not so many such opportunities in our city. We hope that soon the situation will change for the better,” said Oksana Popova.
The kindergarten actively cooperates with the Plavilnya eco-workshop, which melts certain types of plastic. The guys collect plastic caps, the older groups will soon go on an excursion to the plastic recycling workshop.
In addition to the federal project, the teaching staff of the kindergarten is actively involved in other environmental initiatives.
“We have an ecological trail and a mini-reserve on the territory of the kindergarten, a corner of untouched nature where children get acquainted with the animals and plants of the Kamchatka Territory, classes are also held there. On the territory of the educational institution there is a greenhouse and a garden where children are engaged. In the spring, they plant seedlings, an action called “Window Garden”, during which each group of children grows seedlings and then plant them in the beds. In the fall, the guys harvest, we host the annual Autumn Fair competition, where the guys can not only demonstrate what they have grown in the greenhouse and in the garden in kindergarten, but also bring vegetables that they have grown in the country with their parents. We also have a flower bed with medicinal plants, where children can learn more information about them,” the teacher explained.
On the territory of the kindergarten there are several playgrounds where children in the open air can clearly learn about the seasons and weather conditions.
