On July 23rd, the Philippines will witness the unveiling of the Good Food Farm McKinley (GFF McKinley), a pioneering hydroponic farm established through a collaboration between Megaworld Corporation, Farm Top, and Rise Against Hunger Philippines (RAHP). This innovative project, situated on approximately 400 square meters of previously untenable land provided by Megaworld, is a testament to the power of strategic partnerships in promoting sustainable urban agriculture.
RAHP has been instrumental in funding the construction of the greenhouse infrastructure. This includes the installation of the foundation, shading nets, garden walling, UV plastic roofing, grow table frames, and essential water, electrical, and storage systems. These elements are critical for creating an efficient and productive hydroponic farm.
Farm Top, led by President and CEO Danny Dy, is responsible for the daily operations and marketing of the farm’s produce. The farm has already planted romaine and green ice lettuce, with the first harvest expected to yield up to 200 kilograms between July 15 and 20. This initial output will be distributed to local commercial buyers and residents, demonstrating the farm’s potential to provide fresh, organic produce sustainably.
GFF McKinley is more than just an agricultural venture; it is a model for economic, environmental, and social resilience.
