“In the Shumerlinskoye forestry of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Chuvashia, the construction of a greenhouse for growing seedlings with ZKS is being completed. The area of the object is 120 sq. m,” said Emir Bedertdinov, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Chuvash Republic.
Forestry specialists have already prepared future “residents” for the greenhouse: Scotch pine seeds have been sown in more than 32,000 plastic cassettes with peat substrate. Soon they will be installed in the greenhouse complex.
“It is planned that the grown seedlings will be planted in open ground in the spring of next year,” Minister Emir Bedertdinov said.
Planting material with a closed root system ensures 100% survival of plants, since when planting, seedlings are taken out of containers and planted with a clod of earth, so that their root system is not injured.
In total, it is planned to build 3 such greenhouses in the republic.
For reference. In Chuvashia, within the framework of the national project “Ecology”, a regional project “Preservation of forests” is being implemented, the main task of which is to ensure by 2024 a balance of disposal and reproduction of forests in the ratio of 100%. According to the Rules for reforestation, from 2022 the share of crops created by seedlings with a closed root system in the country should increase to 20% of the total area of artificial and combined reforestation and up to 30% from 2025.
