Irkutsk “Gorzelenkhoz” intends to grow 15 thousand lilies by September 1 this year. Of these, 8,000 bulbs are already in greenhouses. Experts will cut flowers on the eve of Knowledge Day. In addition, multi-colored callas will appear in the company’s branded stores by September 1.
Lilies and callas are grown at Gorzelenhoz using forcing technology. As Anastasia Kolesova explained, callas “do not like” high temperatures and the open sun, while lilies, on the contrary, are more warm and light-loving. Therefore, at the enterprise, these flowers are planted in different greenhouses.
– Recently, our local flowers are in special demand. And we are working to expand the range, to please and surprise the people of Irkutsk. So, by the first of September, large, tall, multi-colored lilies Maxima, El Capitan, Angela, Edsilia, Monika, Rafaela, Samuela will be ready for cutting in our greenhouses. There are terry varieties, there are Asian varieties, – said Anastasia Kolesova, agronomist of the Gorzelenkhoz MUEEP. – And by the Day of Knowledge, pink, bright yellow, white-purple callas will bloom in our country. These are varieties Romance, Golden Medal, Picasso. We constantly grow callas at the enterprise, but this is the first time.
Irkutsk residents can grow lilies in their backyards as well. The municipal enterprise sells bulbs of these flowers in its company stores.
