An important point in the implementation of LED lighting in greenhouses is to reduce the cost of equipment, making its use profitable. This can be achieved by unifying the nodes of conventional and agrotechnical lamps. An important step in this direction has been taken by Lumileds with the launch of the new LUXEON SunPlus HPE LED.
New LUXEON SunPlus HPE LED
The device has a wavelength of 660 nm. It is this component in the spectrum of agrotechnical lamps that is responsible for stimulating the rapid growth of plants. LUXEON SunPlus HPE is equipped with a landing pad of fairly common sizes – 3.5 × 3.5 mm. This allows the use of standard equipment for mounting LEDs in the production of agrotechnical lamps. It should also be noted that the current rating of the LED is 700 mA, which corresponds to the current rating for solid state sources used in street lighting. Accordingly, it is possible to install drivers for street lamps and lighting fixtures for greenhouses. The nominal voltage of the new LED is 2V.
LUXEON SunPlus HPE has a primary optic in the form of a lens providing a light distribution angle of about 120°. It also simplifies the process of making lighting fixtures for growing crops.
