Promising hybrids of tomatoes were presented by the Pridnestrovian Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Republic reported on July 14.
“Perspective tomato hybrids have been demonstrated that differ in a number of economically valuable traits, such as: yield, vitamin C content, sugars, lycopene (an important antioxidant), beta-carotene (provitamin A),” the press release says.
In addition, the Research Institute of Agriculture is developing new high-yielding large-fruited tomato hybrids of the Mikado type, as well as cherry and cocktail types of hybrids.

It should be noted that Pridnestrovian breeders managed to create a cherry-shaped purple hybrid at the stage of the technical phase of ripening, and when fully ripe, the fruit acquires a black-red color.
“The color of the fruit of this hybrid is provided by the content of anthocyanins (antioxidants),” the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Pridnestrovie reports.
Recall that the Pridnestrovian Research Institute of Agriculture is working on the creation of hybrids of tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, sweet peppers, peas and other crops.
