Governor of Turkestan Region, Darhan Satybaldy, recently visited Keles District, meeting with owners of greenhouse farms to discuss future prospects and current challenges in the agricultural sector. During his visit to the “Orynkul” farm in the Birtilek rural district, key issues such as market expansion and investment subsidies for production enhancement were brought to the forefront.
The “Orynkul” farm specializes in cultivating a variety of vegetables, including eggplants, tomatoes, cucumbers, and also grows plums. The annual production capacity of this project is approximately 200 tons, with an overall project investment of 110 million tenge. Since its establishment in 2015, the farm has provided permanent employment to ten individuals and seasonal work to an additional hundred. The average wage for workers is around 150,000 tenge. Out of the total area of 10.8 hectares, greenhouses occupy 0.80 hectares, while the remaining area is dedicated to orchards.
During the visit, Governor Satybaldy listened to the concerns and proposals of the farmers, promising that these issues would be addressed in collaboration with the relevant authorities. He emphasized the importance of supporting such agricultural projects and issued directives for further development in the sector. Greenhouses are now present in nearly every district and city within the region, contributing significantly to the local economy and attracting interest from not only local residents but also potential investors.
Moreover, the Turkestan region is set to host the construction of the largest greenhouse in the country, underscoring the area’s commitment to advancing its agricultural capabilities and sustainability.
