Rathgeb Bio, in collaboration with Kellermann Gemüsekulturen, is embarking on a significant venture to construct an organic greenhouse in Ellikon an der Thur, scheduled to begin producing fresh vegetables in early 2025. These family-owned businesses have been closely aligned since April 2023, fostering a robust partnership in agricultural innovation.
The forthcoming project represents a pivotal stride forward for both entities, as they jointly invest in a new greenhouse facility spanning approximately four hectares. This facility will specialize in the organic cultivation of tomatoes and cucumbers using soil-based farming methods. Leveraging an existing design blueprint, the construction process is poised for swift implementation, with operations set to commence at the outset of 2025.
“This forward-thinking investment marks a significant milestone for Rathgeb Bio, enhancing our organic vegetable offerings cultivated within energy-efficient greenhouses,” stated the companies in a joint announcement. “The establishment of this new greenhouse not only bolsters regional economic growth through sustainable food production but also generates environmentally-friendly employment opportunities.”
