Since the beginning of the year, Crimean greenhouse farms have harvested 1.6 thousand tons of early vegetables: more than 1,300 tons of cucumbers and about 320 tons of tomatoes.
This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, visiting the greenhouse complex of Don Agro LLC in the Simferopol region. Greenhouse vegetables in the republic are now harvested by two enterprises.
“Today I visited Don Agro LLC. This is the second enterprise in the Crimea, where they began to harvest the first crop this year. Here, on almost 2.70 hectares, early cucumbers of the Bjorn variety are grown. Vegetables are harvested almost daily. During the month, 74 tons of vitamin products were produced, which, after harvest, enter the Crimean and mainland shelves. The plans of the Crimean greenhouse farms this year to harvest no less than last year. Let me remind you that in 2022, about 26.6 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested in greenhouses,” commented Andrei Savchuk, head of the Crimean Ministry of Agriculture.
The minister also said that in addition to cucumbers, the company grows grain and leguminous crops. For the harvest of 2023, 596 hectares of winter crops have already been sown, of which 275 hectares are winter wheat, and more than 320 hectares are winter barley. LLC “Don Agro” plans to sow early spring crops on 200 hectares. These are crops such as peas and barley.
