For entrepreneurs and investors seeking innovative opportunities in the agricultural sector, Skytree’s latest offering presents a compelling proposition. The company has announced the launch of its modular Skytree Stratus Hub, designed to facilitate scalable carbon dioxide (CO2) removal and storage for a variety of industries, including greenhouse production.
An Advanced Approach to Direct Air Capture
Following the introduction of their decentralized Direct Air Capture (DAC) product, Stratus, Skytree’s new Stratus Hub provides a versatile plug-and-play configuration. This system is optimized to support a wide range of CO2 utilization projects across diverse markets such as cement, efuels, chemicals, food and beverage, and controlled-environment agriculture. The Stratus Hub’s modular architecture enables phased deployment, allowing projects to scale up as their CO2 requirements grow.
“The availability of the Skytree Stratus Hub globally gives us the opportunity to bring a first-of-its-kind approach to kick-start volume deployment of DAC systems. Our mass manufacturing allows us to drive down costs through buying power and production automation,” says Skytree CEO Rob van Straten.
Driving Sustainability and Efficiency
The Stratus Hub is engineered to capture between 10,000 to over 1 million tons of CO2 per site annually, and it can be deployed in any climate, making it highly adaptable. This flexibility is crucial for industries looking to reduce their carbon footprint while maintaining operational efficiency. By leveraging existing industrial infrastructure and waste heat, Skytree minimizes energy consumption and further reduces costs.
This new product complements Skytree’s portfolio of solutions aimed at supporting sustainable food production through advanced CO2 supply technologies for controlled-environment agriculture. Skytree’s commitment to innovation is reflected in its continuous improvement of capture materials, enhancing unit capture capacity and reducing energy consumption.
A Multi-Use Direct Air Capture System
Skytree’s Stratus systems are designed for versatility and can be powered by electricity alone or a combination of electricity and thermal heat from geothermal sources or industrial waste heat. The Stratus Hub produces CO2 outputs ranging from 90% to 99.99% pure gas or liquid, meeting the needs of various industries. All units are integrated with Skytree Cloud, an IoT platform for remote management and insights, ensuring uninterrupted operations through sophisticated maintenance services.
Prepared for Mass Production and Global Deployment
Skytree stands out as the first DAC company capable of delivering modular direct air capture solutions at scale. The company has established long-term agreements with key suppliers and manufacturers in Europe and North America, ensuring its production capacity can meet the demands of a rapidly growing customer base.
Through the deployment of numerous Stratus Hub projects, Skytree aims to capture at least 10 million tons of CO2 through customer projects in the coming years. This ambitious goal underscores the company’s commitment to addressing the climate crisis through innovative and scalable technology solutions.
