The fans do their job well, they run continuously

What does vertical air movement do to the crop? Guus Cox from Cox Strawberries B.V. in Horst (Limburg) grows 7,2 ha of strawberries together with his father Ber. In addition, they also grow tray plants for their own production. For an optimal crop in the strawberry greenhouse, they have chosen Hinovator fans from Hinova. Guus: “After 10 years of cultivation in this greenhouse, we deliberately opted for these Hinova vertical recirculation fans in 2017. They have several advantages, besides a large airflow capacity, they are silent and variable in speed. ”

Hans Weisbeek, owner Hinova: “Good air movement is necessary to create an even climate in a greenhouse. The Hinovator reduces negative effects due to moisture and cold in a simple and energy-efficient way. ”

Guus: “Since using the Hinovator, we have noticed that we have a more active crop, we have a higher water absorption. The fans are controlled via the climate computer on moisture deficit to continuously stimulate evaporation. The climate computer controls the fans in range of 0 to 100% at a HD of 8 to 3 g/m3 respectively. When comparing crops, we see a positive difference when using these fans. We have a longer evaporation time which results in more water absorption. This has shown that we maintain fruit size more easily. The fans are worth a lot to us and we wouldn’t want to take them out. ”

The Hinovator can be used anywhere. Hans: “The advantage of this fan is that it is easy to adjust in speed. Each crop has its own characteristics and the Hinovator can be used to suit everyone’s needs. There are different methods to control the fans, via a 0-10 Volt signal but also with a very reliable in-house developed wireless system. The fans contain energy-efficient motors and are very quiet. They are made of high-quality materials and require little maintenance. ”

Guus: “We are very satisfied with the Hinovator. We grow more generative, and we have a stable climate which ensures an active plant. We also notice that it contributes to our CO2 efficiency, the plant does not have to supply much vapour pressure to open stomata’s, although this is difficult to substantiate with figures. The fans do their job well, they run continuously. ”

Israel announces creation of global seed company

Two Israeli seed producers, Nirit Seeds and TomaTech, have joined forces to create Israel’s largest vegetable seed company. This synergy will enable unique seed breeding research and development that will accelerate the company’s growth in the international seed markets.

Upon completion of the merger, the company will have more than 80 employees worldwide, including molecular biologists, breeders, agronomists, and others.
The company will improve its breeding activities in Israel, Spain, Mexico and Italy, as well as significantly expand its representation in the Netherlands and North America, with a particular focus on growing vegetables in high-tech greenhouses.

Karachay-Cherkessia became one of the leaders in the production of greenhouse vegetables at the end of 2021


Greenhouse vegetable production in 2021 reached a record 1.4 million tonnes. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the leaders among the regions in this segment are the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, Lipetsk, Moscow, Kaluga, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Saratov, Chelyabinsk regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, the Republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan. These regions account for more than 60% of the total production in the country. The intensive development of greenhouse projects in our country helps to provide Russians with fresh vegetables all year round. Last year, the harvest in winter greenhouses updated the 2020 record – more than 1.4 million tons of products were received. Including the production of cucumbers amounted to at least 830 thousand tons, and tomatoes – 590 thousand tons. It is expected that by 2025 the volume of vegetable production in year-round greenhouses will be at least 1.6 million tons of vegetables.
