With the help of the “Beginner Farmer” grant, it was possible to purchase a greenhouse, a mini-tractor, as well as equip a warehouse and an irrigation system. Today, the Suzdalev farm has more than 700 crops and 60,000 seedlings.
The path to agriculture for Lyudmila Suzdaleva was winding. Laying the trail was started by her husband, who started landscaping in 2010. The couple were engaged in the planning of plots, helping their owners to choose ornamental plants, but soon the demand for fruit crops increased so much that the couple smoothly switched from buying seedlings to growing their own plants.
When the nursery expanded, the question arose of building a greenhouse, purchasing agricultural machinery and an irrigation system for plantations. Then the couple decided to try to get state support, but the outbreak of the pandemic did not allow them to collect documents in time to apply for the first competition – Agrostartup. Instead, the couple managed to get a “Starting Farmer” grant. With his funds, he managed to get what he wanted.
According to the terms of the grant, the nursery should grow by 10% annually, but the couple stated higher figures. Today, the nursery has more than 700 crops and 60,000 seedlings.
Another seven farmers will have a chance to launch large-scale production with the help of state subsidies this year. In the near future, the winners of the Agrostartup contest, which has been held in the region since 2019, will be announced. Within its framework, 24 entrepreneurs received support for a total amount of more than 69 million rubles.
