Since the beginning of summer, employed convicts have been growing seasonal vegetables to the fullest. According to the Press Service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Tula Region, in IK-7, convicts collected over 642 kg of cucumbers and 33 kg of pepper.
The heated greenhouse, according to the decision of the leadership of correctional colony No. 7, appeared two years ago. The convicts carried out the necessary work to prepare the land for planting seedlings, cultivated and replaced the soil. The efforts put in quickly began to bear fruit.
Employed convicts grow various varieties of cucumbers and several varieties of pepper, such as “Spanish sweet”, “Bogatyr” and “Atlant”.
The grown products are in great demand among convicts: they are sold in the penitentiary store.
