The Moscow region has taken the second place in the production of protected ground vegetables in Russia, reports Lenta.ru. As the head of the region Andrei Vorobyov emphasized, food security is one of the key challenges and priorities for the Moscow region.
“We are involved in this work at all stages – from import substitution of seeds, selection to the creation of modern vegetable stores. Since the first sanctions, since 2014, ten large greenhouse projects have been implemented in the region and are under implementation. This allowed us to climb from 36th to second place in greenhouse vegetables. Production has increased by more than ten times – in 2022 we plan to harvest 122,000 tons. We are also leaders in the country for cheese, bread, milk and berries. Own production means that the price is lower, and the shelves are not empty, ”said Andrey Vorobyov.
As noted, in 2014 the volume of cultivated greenhouse vegetables was 9,000 tons. In total, there are seven agricultural enterprises in the Moscow Region that grow greenhouse vegetables. There are support measures for industry representatives in the region. You can get acquainted with them on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Nature Management of the Moscow Region.
