n the greenhouses of the Turkestan region, the usual crops have been replaced by watermelons. Farmers first began to grow them there. They admit that they did not adapt immediately. Seeds were sown at the end of April, choosing varieties, care and soil. Through long experiments, it was possible to get a harvest. So far, it is not on an industrial scale, but dehkans are sure that it is still ahead. Striped berries are still exotic for Turkestan greenhouses. Previously, farmers grew watermelons only in the fields. Now we decided to experiment with both the place and the variety in order to harvest a solid crop all year round. Katerina Popkova, correspondent: – The first watermelons have already ripened on the experimental field. According to farmers, they ripen even better and faster in the greenhouse. Enough 55 days. The fruits will be harvested in two weeks. Then Vidadi Mammadov will reveal the question that interests everyone: “What do hothouse watermelons and melons taste like?” In the meantime, on his 18 acres, the agrarian continues to experiment: due to lamps, he lengthens the daylight hours for berries, made electric holes in the greenhouse so that the sun also warms the fruits. Vidadi Mammadov, agrarian: – There is land in this bag – some percentage, proportion. There is peat and some coconut. The first year, I think, let me try. Each seedling gives one watermelon. I want to try now so that each seedling gives at least 2 or 3 watermelons. If it does, then it is possible to harvest crops in three seasons in one season. Everyone can grow a crop of gourds in a greenhouse, the farmer is sure. It is only necessary to observe the technology and proper care. And if a few years ago no one believed in the mass cultivation of watermelons in greenhouses, today many agricultural producers come here. Perdebay Magzumov, agrarian: – This year we are also trying to experiment. We will find out what preparations watermelons need, what is needed to grow well. We arrived at the greenhouse to take seedlings. In Saryagash, the experiment is still being looked at. This city is famous for a large number of greenhouses – 683 hectares. Alaidar Amirkhanov, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Agriculture of the Saryagash region: – We are working to diversify products in greenhouses. For example, in the rural district of Zhartytobe. They grow lemons in a greenhouse. This year we will use new technologies and increase productivity. For the first time, Vidadi Mammadov did not get the maximum result, he expected twice as much. Therefore, he worked on the mistakes and changed the exit strategy. In neighboring greenhouses, he began to experiment with tomatoes and bell peppers. He wants to surprise the villagers with new varieties.
