The press service of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute reported that a record harvest of vegetables was harvested at the Vostok station in Antarctica and cucumbers were grown for the first time. Earlier, polar explorers from Russia in the conditions of the lowest air temperatures on the planet received their first harvest of watermelons. In two greenhouses located at the Antarctic station, groundless technology “panoponics” is used. Up to 100 kilograms of cucumbers, 29 kilograms of tomatoes, 11 kilograms of sweet peppers and 149 kilograms of cabbage can be grown annually on one square meter of the area.
