In the middle of the coastal white sand region of Thang Binh District, there is a clean vegetable farm high-tech application of Young Master Ye Thi Thao Trang (30 years old, resident Nam Ha village, Binh Duong commune, Thang Binh District, Quang Nam Province). This is the typical agricultural economic model of the region in recent years.
Ms. Trang’s high – tech agricultural economy model has blown “a fresh breeze” to the arid hot sand region, giving impetus to many young people back home to start a business to get rich, build a homeland.
Passion for clean agriculture
Walking in the middle of the green beds, Ms. Trang said happily: “I graduated with a master’s degree in State Administration Management, graduated from school with a decent salary but always cherished a passion for clean agriculture.
Later, my husband did business favorably with the construction of hydroponic vegetable system and had friends who are knowledgeable about agriculture, information technology, so they supported me back home to start a clean vegetable growing high-tech application.”
In early 2021, Ms. Trang quit her job in Da Nang City and officially embarked on farming work in her hometown. Because of the high initial investment costs, she together with her friends founded Thang Binh high-tech agricultural cooperative with an investment of more than VND1.3 billion. The cooperative has 7 members and she serves as director.
The farm was built with an area of 3,000m2, of which 400m2 grow hydroponic vegetables in greenhouses (membrane houses), the rest grow organic vegetables and flowers. The entire manufacturing process complies with VietGAP, GlobalGAP safety standards on a high-tech application platform.
According to Ms. Trang, the model of growing hydroponic vegetables cost a lot of investment for hydroponic systems, diaphragm houses, water tanks, water pumps amniotic fluid but low maintenance costs, bringing many benefits and high efficiency.
Instead of planting vegetables on the ground, hydroponic vegetable seeds are imported and in coconut fiber or foam cups. After more than 1 Week, the seedlings are separated and placed in perforated plastic pipes, connected into a multi-tiered truss system, which does not take up much land, saving costs and labor.
Irrigation water for vegetables is pumped from the reservoir to the plastic pipe system, then flows down the pipe and then returns to the reservoir in a closed circulation. Nutrients are dissolved in water, which helps the roots absorb well.
Nguyen Quoc Tuan (her husband Trang) shared :” compared with traditional vegetable cultivation, hydroponic vegetable cultivation is 40-50% higher yield, harvest time faster than 10 days. Vegetables grown indoors will minimize exposure to harmful substances and pollution from the surrounding environment.”
The process of operating the hydroponic vegetable system is quite simple, automated, do not spray stimulants or pesticides, so the safety and hygiene of food is high. Hydroponic vegetables are less susceptible to pests and diseases, product quality is monitored and controlled based on the regulation of fertilizer processes and nutrition for vegetables.
In order to adapt to the harsh climatic conditions of the central region, Ms. Trang garden has installed an additional misting and cooling system that automatically adjusts the appropriate temperature to help plants reach maximum yield.
Profit of VND 30 million / month
Taking advantage of the high-tech strengths, Ms. Trang’s cooperative has applied the Internet of Things (IoT) to agricultural production. Although not in the garden, all members can check and adjust the specifications through the application on the smartphone.
When the heat substrate rises, then the cooling system will automatically activate the shading mesh, ventilation fans, misting the membrane House.
Along with the development of hydroponic vegetable planting model, the cooperative also promotes the production of vegetables and fruits in the direction of organic, floriculture to serve the market for holidays and Tet. The varieties of vegetables and flowers are grown experimentally to select the appropriate type for the Central climate, strictly ensuring the production process to give consumers the best quality products.
Sharing difficulties when applying high technology to cultivation, Ms. Trang said: “the biggest difficulty is daring to risk a large cost of investment for the entire system from greenhouses to hydroponics, magnet automatic fertilizer specialty, growers must have specialized knowledge of Agriculture and technology, know how to handle problems arising, master the technique of care and harvesting plants.
Above all, clean farmers must have a bright mind and bravery overcoming difficulties, dynamic and creative to adapt to circumstances, resilient to overcome harsh natural disasters.”
Besides vegetables and salads imported for high yield and nutritional content, Thang Binh high-tech agricultural cooperative also grow many vegetables and fruits only in cool climate such as strawberries, cherry tomatoes and nova, melon, baby melon…. In particular, on the arid sandy soil there are brilliant colors of many types of sunflowers, glasses, coins, chrysanthemums, lavender flowers….
As a result, the cooperative annually attracts nearly 4,000 visitors to visit, have fun and experience the reality of clean agriculture. Mainly delegations of students, students inside and outside the province.
Currently, on average, the cooperative supplies more than 2.5 tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits to the market at the price of 40,000-80,000 VND/kg (depending on the type), earning nearly 30 million VND. Create jobs for 6 employees with wages ranging from 5,000,000 – 6,000,000 VND / month.
With the increasing demand for clean vegetables, the products of the cooperative are very popular market, present at supermarkets, clean food stores, restaurants, hotels in Da Nang City, Hue, Quang Nam.
“In the coming time, the cooperative will associate with households in the area to transfer the process of growing high-tech vegetables, support the output bag to help farmers no longer worry about the chorus of losing season, reduce the area of abandoned land and raise income for households…”the page shared.
