The agricultural community in Nikiforovsk village is abuzz with anticipation as Mikhail Borodin’s greenhouse facility kicks off another season of growth. Situated in Dmitrievka within the Nikiforovsky municipal district, Borodin’s farm, known as KFH Mikhail Borodin, is a testament to entrepreneurial spirit and agricultural innovation. This year, the farm has initiated its production cycle by planting cucumber seedlings, a staple crop in the region.
Borodin, a seasoned vegetable grower, understands the importance of meeting consumer demands. With a commitment to quality and variety, he has carefully selected and cultivated an assortment of cucumber varieties, ranging from those with dark to light skins, and from small to large sizes.
“We’ve planted our favorite varieties along with a few recommended ones,” Borodin shares. “Among them are Maestroza, Madeira, SV4097, and the mainstay, German. Additionally, we’ve dedicated a couple of plots to Athlete, known for its thick stems and early fruiting. We’ll be hand-pollinating these for optimal yield.”
The establishment of Borodin’s greenhouse enterprise in 2022 was made possible through a government grant under the “AgroStartup” program, part of the national project aimed at fostering small and medium-sized businesses and supporting individual entrepreneurial initiatives. With a grant totaling 3 million rubles, Borodin has been able to expand his operations and implement innovative farming techniques.
Last year, Borodin furthered his expertise by participating in the regional educational initiative, the “Farmers’ School.” Focused on open-field and greenhouse vegetable cultivation, Borodin’s final project secured a top-three position in the competition among school graduates.
Furthermore, Borodin’s farm has become a hub for knowledge exchange, hosting the regional seminar “Modern Greenhouse Vegetable Cultivation.” Novice growers and seasoned experts alike have benefited from firsthand insights into Borodin’s practices.
Specializing in the cultivation of cucumbers, tomatoes, and bell peppers, Borodin’s farm supplies its produce to various marketplaces in the regional capital. With plans to start supplying fresh cucumbers from the new season as early as April, Borodin remains committed to delivering quality produce to his customers.
Mikhail Borodin’s greenhouse enterprise symbolizes the potential for innovation and growth within the agricultural sector. Through strategic investments, educational initiatives, and a dedication to meeting consumer demands, Borodin exemplifies the spirit of modern farming. As the new season unfolds, his commitment to excellence promises a bountiful harvest and a sustainable future for Nikiforovsk village.
