A retired couple from Balkanabat grows lemons in two small greenhouses.
A married couple of pensioners, Vera and Alexander Podolsky from Balkanabat, grow lemons in two small glass greenhouses built in the yard. Being on a well-deserved rest, pensioners have found a way to spend time with benefit: both an activity they like, and lemons – a storehouse of vitamins – on the table. From morning until late evening they take care of plants, fertilize and loosen the soil, adjust the temperature regime, watering, and closely monitor growth.
As reported on the website of the State Publishing Service of Turkmenistan, the lemon harvest is intended exclusively for a large and friendly family, neighbors, acquaintances and friends. Fresh herbs also grow in the garden – onion feathers, dill and parsley.
Now the couple is making plans for the future: to start cultivating other types of citrus fruits.
