The new greenhouse, built in the style of the 19th century, has become a continuation of the Big Georgian restaurant.
A new greenhouse-restaurant has appeared in Yekaterinburg. The greenhouse built next to the Makarovsky Bridge is the second phase of the Big Georgian restaurant, thanks to which the number of seats in the establishment has been increased by 80 percent. According to the E1.RU portal, the new greenhouse was built almost in the same place where the greenhouse of the merchant Ilya Simanov stood in the 19th century.
It was not possible to recreate an exact copy: neither drawings nor even photographs of Simanov’s winter gardens have been preserved, but it is known that the most amazing plants were grown here, including pineapples. The greenhouse, which will work in winter and summer, was recreated following the example of the estate of the princes Chavchavade, built at the same time as Yekaterinburg, in Tsinandali.
The project is being implemented by UMMC-Builder. The director of the construction company, Yevgeny Mordovin, stressed that it was decided to build the greenhouse in memory of the merchant Simanov, who invested a lot of effort and money in Yekaterinburg. At his expense, a garden and a park on the bank of the city pond were laid out, and the streets were paved. The greenhouse, in which the townspeople came to rest, was Simanov’s favorite brainchild.
The first guests of the restaurant-greenhouse were greeted by dozens of exotic plants, including those brought specially from Thailand. The floristic collection of the greenhouse has just begun to take shape and in the near future new unique flowers, vines and trees will appear here.
