In the village of Gremyachinsk, 250,000 pine seedlings with a closed root system are grown.
A greenhouse complex was built in the Pribaikalsky district to restore the forest.
In the village of Gremyachinsk, employees of the Kikinsky forestry enterprise erected five greenhouses at once for growing young forests, one of which has already been put into operation. The greenhouse has its own climate. Every day, specialists control and regulate the temperature and humidity of the air, loosen, weed and fertilize the land, all in order to restore as many dead forests on Baikal as possible.
– Here we grow 250,000 pine seedlings with a closed root system. As soon as the seedlings grow up, we will be able to plant them in the central ecological zone of Baikal. This amount is enough to restore 125 hectares of the dead forest, – said the chief forester of the Kikinsky forestry Larisa Zaitseva.
Seedlings with a closed root system provide better survival than those grown in open ground, and special greenhouse conditions allow you to grow the future forest faster and better.
In total, about 5 million future trees are grown in the nurseries of the Pribaikalsky region annually. Already next spring, foresters will sow the entire greenhouse complex – this is more than 1 million pine seedlings. Thus, specialists will increase the area of reforested forests, which is the main task of the federal project “Preservation of forests” of the national project “Ecology”, the forestry agency of Buryatia reported.
