Young farmers grow radishes and tomatoes in the school greenhouse
Pupils of elementary grades in the village of Upper Seimchan learned the basics of agricultural sciences in the summer. The boys and girls themselves planted radish seeds, watched their growth, watered, loosened and weeded the beds.
They perfectly learned what care this vegetable crop needs from sowing to harvest, just like with tomatoes. Now parents are happy to let their children do agricultural work at home, in private greenhouses.
Schoolchildren became connoisseurs of radish and tomato varieties, for example, they realized that tomatoes love loose, oxygen-rich soil, so it’s better not to grow them next to cucumbers. The mentor of the school agricultural project, Lyudmila Sviridenko, who reported on the achievements of vegetable growers, said that the children were encouraged for their successes, noted how together all summer the guys looked after the plants, set up shifts, experimented with varieties, shared little tricks with each other to grow an excellent crop of crops .
– Northern children know how to appreciate the summer, no matter how it turns out. Well done guys, they perfectly understood what plant care means, how to water, fertilize, loosen the soil. They were pleased to see how the chefs served radish and tomato salads rich in vitamins and minerals. We ate with appetite,” said Ludmila Sviridenko, mentor of the agrarian project.
