As of April 25 of this year, 61 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested in Lipetsk greenhouses with a year-round growing cycle. This is 3,000 tons more than a year earlier, when 58,000 tons were received on the same date. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Lipetsk region continues to be the best in Russia in terms of vegetable production in winter greenhouses.
Since the beginning of the year, 31.5 thousand tons of cucumbers, 29.2 thousand tons of tomatoes, 0.3 thousand tons of lettuce (1.5 million pieces) have been grown in four greenhouse complexes of the region since the beginning of the year.
“Starting from 2014, the development of greenhouse vegetable growing has been one of the priority areas in the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Lipetsk region,” emphasizes Oleg Dolgikh, head of the regional department of agriculture. “Every year we set new records. State support provided by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture in conjunction with regional support measures has already made it possible to increase the gross harvest of greenhouse vegetables by 25 times.”
Currently, preferential investment loans and “stimulating” subsidies are provided for enterprises in the industry.
