In 2022, installation of 13 new greenhouses for growing planting material for forest reproduction is planned in the Khabarovsk Territory. This work is being carried out within the framework of the “Green Future of the Region” project, which is part of the flagship initiative of the region’s development strategy “The Edge of Comfortable Living”.
In 2022, seven organizations became participants in the “Green Future of the Region” project: KGSAU “Khabarovsk Specialized Forestry”, KGSAU “Eastern Forestry”, KGSAU “Far Eastern Aviation Base for Forest Protection”, KGAU “Ukturskoe Forestry”, KGSAU “Soviet Forestry”, KGAU “Kerbinsky Forestry”, KGAU “Avan forestry”. All these institutions are building new greenhouses at their own expense. The total area of greenhouses will be 0.775 hectares, while 0.475 hectares should be sown with tree seeds this year.
In eight new greenhouses, which were installed in the first half of the year, larch and scots pine are already being grown. In total, 56 greenhouses with a total area of 3.19 hectares are involved in the production of planting material for these tree species in the region.
In the autumn of 2022, greenhouse farms of the region plan to receive 13 million seedlings, of which 4.5 million with an open root system and 8.5 million with a closed root system.
Five more new greenhouses are currently in the final stage of installation.
Recall that the regional project “Conservation of forests” of the national project “Ecology”, within the framework of which work is underway on artificial reforestation, has been implemented in the Khabarovsk Territory since 2019. Its goal is to ensure a balance of 100 percent of forest disposal and reproduction by 2024. According to the relevant department, by the end of 2021, this indicator in the region reached 123 percent with a plan of 83 percent.
It should also be noted that in the updated Strategy of socio-economic development of the Khabarovsk Territory, presented at the end of 2021, the head of the region Mikhail Degtyarev separately set key indicators for the field of reforestation. The project “Green Future of the region”, which is part of the flagship initiative “The Edge of comfortable Living”, provides that by 2026 at least 18 million seedlings will be grown in the region annually, and by 2030 — 27 million pieces.
