Experts predict an aggravation of some problems in the Russian greenhouse business for the current year. Equipment for new complexes appearing on the periphery will have to be transported from the central regions of Russia, thousands of kilometers away. This will lead to a strong rise in its price. In addition, a significant part of the purchased equipment remains imported. Domestic analogues cannot yet compare with foreign ones in terms of efficiency. The purchase of seeds also hits the pockets of farmers. In Russian greenhouses, about 85% of tomatoes and 75% of cucumbers are imported. The current exchange rates of the ruble against world currencies do not leave any hope for stabilization of prices for goods necessary for the industry.
