The production of greenhouse vegetables in the Russian Federation in 2022 will amount to 1.5 million tons, including 680 thousand tons in the second half of the year, the Greenhouses of Russia association predicts. According to her, the leading regions in the production of greenhouse vegetables will remain the same as at the beginning of the year: these are the Lipetsk, Moscow, Volgograd, Kaluga, Belgorod, Novosibirsk regions, the Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories and the Republic of Tatarstan, since these regions have the largest number of winter greenhouses.
For seven months of 2022, the collection of greenhouse vegetables amounted to 975.3 thousand tons, the association said in a statement. This is 6.3% more than in the same period last year. Most of the harvest fell on cucumbers (568.2 thousand tons) and tomatoes (387.8 thousand tons).
Domestic production of greenhouse vegetables has been increasing in recent years: five years ago it was 1 million 82 thousand tons, in 2021 – 1 million 466.9 thousand tons.
