In the heart of Orenburg, the “Atena” greenhouse farm stands as a beacon of innovation in the horticultural landscape. Spearheading the implementation of lean production technologies, this participant of the National Project “Labor Productivity” has undergone a transformational journey towards efficiency and excellence.
Over the course of approximately six months, supported by governmental initiatives, the farm has revamped its production lines. Central to this overhaul is the installation of an automated packaging line, streamlining the flower packing process and minimizing unnecessary handling, thus ensuring the flowers’ integrity and prolonging their shelf life.
Furthermore, significant strides have been made in enhancing agronomic practices to reduce wastage during cultivation. Through improved agrochemical procedures, the farm has effectively curtailed defects, ensuring a higher yield of premium-quality flowers.
A pivotal aspect of “Atena’s” success lies in the investment in human capital. Trained and certified lean production instructors from within the workforce have been instrumental in driving operational efficiency and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Since its establishment in 2010, “Atena” has cultivated a diverse clientele, catering to both wholesale and retail flower companies such as “Lenta,” “O’Key,” “Leroy Merlin,” and others across regions like Bashkortostan and Yekaterinburg.
Diversification is another key strategy employed by the farm, with tulips and other annual flowers complementing their gerbera production. In the 2023-2024 season alone, over 18 million tulip bulbs were planted across 1.5 hectares, strategically timed to meet demand for International Women’s Day.
Today, “Atena’s” reach extends far beyond Orenburg, with direct deliveries spanning cities from Murmansk to Krasnoyarsk and even crossing borders into Kazakhstan, supplying their blooms to eager consumers and retail chains alike.
The National Project “Labor Productivity,” a cornerstone of Russia’s economic agenda, underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for sustained productivity growth. Through a holistic approach encompassing financial incentives and expert guidance, businesses like “Atena” are empowered to optimize their operations and contribute to the nation’s economic prosperity.
The success story of the “Atena” greenhouse farm serves as a testament to the transformative power of lean production methodologies and strategic government support. By embracing innovation and efficiency, they not only raise the bar for horticultural excellence but also play a vital role in advancing Russia’s economic agenda.
