Spring is a time of transformation. Soon the city will be dressed up not only with green juicy foliage, but also with a huge palette of all kinds of colors. Specialists of MBU “Blagoustroystvo” have completely filled the greenhouse with seedlings and are ready to plant all the variety of flowers in the city flower beds in the near future.
In the city limits, the snow has already melted, green grass is slowly starting to break through. In some places, tulips planted before winter are clearly visible in the flower beds. Pushchino is a very picturesque, green town. Beautifully decorated flower beds make it even more attractive. Active work on them will begin very soon. Few people know, but large-scale preparation of seedlings has been carried out in the “Beautification” for a long time.
Currently, employees in the greenhouse are engaged, one might say, in jewelry work – they dive seedlings literally the size of a fingernail.
– In January, we are already doing the first crops of annual flowers, – says Irina Ablitsova, head of the landscaping section of the MBU “Improvement”. – We start with the viola. We also sow asters, marigolds, snapdragons, cineraria, amaranth, salvia, alyssum, begonia, zinnia, dahlias, nasturtium for seedlings.
For urban flower beds, experts select plants that are unpretentious, with beautiful unusual foliage, pleasing to the eye with rapid flowering for a long time.
According to Irina Ablitsova, more than 70,000 plants will be needed to decorate the city flowerbeds. To get such a quantity of seedlings, they initially sow twice as much, since some do not germinate, some are rejected during picking. Also, flowers are grown in a greenhouse in a different way.
– This year we are growing osteospermum, morning glory sweet potato and argyrantemum from cuttings. The latter is represented by several varieties. One is very similar to chamomile, that is, if you are not a specialist, then you will not even understand that it is argirantemum, – says Irina Ablitsova. – We don’t have enough of it yet, we only multiply it. We dream of making a flower bed, like a chamomile field.
Very soon, the treasury of seedlings of many thousands will be distributed among the city flower beds. The first flowers, weather permitting, will be planted by May 9 in Victory Park. Employees of “Beautification” throughout the season will take care of plants and flowers, if necessary, replant or plant new ones.
More than 6 million flowers will be planted in the Moscow region, the press service of the Ministry of Improvement of the Moscow Region reported. The start of the spring landing is scheduled for April 25, if the air temperature for 5 days will be at least 12 degrees.
