The Pobeda enterprise successfully breeds African clariid catfish and grows salad greens using aquaculture and hydroponics. The head of Sochi, Alexey Kopaygorodsky, highly appreciated the prospects for the development of this area and supported local producers.
The Pobeda agricultural enterprise has been successfully breeding African clariid catfish for six years, reaching a weight of up to one and a half kilograms. 10–15 tons of fish are supplied annually to Sochi sanatorium-resort organizations and public catering establishments.
The company’s technologists decided to expand the range of products and organized a line for growing salad greens using a progressive method of farming – aquaponics. This method uses water that has previously contained fish, making the environment sufficiently nutritious and eliminating the need for fertilizers. Plants receive all the necessary microelements for full development, and a balanced temperature regime ensures rapid growth.
The head of Sochi, Alexey Kopaygorodsky, visited the enterprise during a working tour of the Lazarevsky district and noted the prospects of this area. He emphasized the need to organize additional sales points at municipal fairs and fulfill the task of ensuring food security set by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Supporting local producers and expanding the capabilities of the city project “Choose Sochi” will provide residents and guests of the resort with high-quality locally produced products.
The company is currently completing the certification process for its salad greens line. At the initial stage, it is planned to collect about 50 kilograms of greenery per day, and in the future the capacity is planned to be doubled.
