President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh got acquainted with the work of the Dutch-type greenhouse of the Tugs Urgats company, the presidential press service reported on May 17.
The report notes that the greenhouse is located 40 km from Ulaanbaatar. It has an area of 18,000 m² and operates in all four seasons, fully meeting the requirements of modern technologies such as heating, irrigation, fertilization and humidity control.
It is indicated that products from the greenhouse are sold in several markets. 2-4 tons of tomatoes and cucumbers are sold daily. Director of the company L. Erdenehimeg noted that the lack of specialists and high interest rates on loans hinder the expansion of production.
The greenhouse operators explain that in order to fully meet the needs of Ulaanbaatar, a 50-hectare greenhouse is needed. This requires 300 billion tugriks.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, in cooperation with the authorities of the capital, plans to build a greenhouse with an area of 15 hectares.
