Large-scale landscaping is expected in the Year of Ecology in Yamal: planting flowers, shrubs, trees, sowing a lawn. This year, on behalf of the governor, the volume of landscaping has been doubled. The first in the district to plant flowers began in Muravlenko and Novy Urengoy.
Twice as many flowers and trees will be planted in Yamal this summer
This year, the cities and towns of Yamal will be decorated with 1.2 million flowers, more than 32,500 trees and about 16,000 shrubs. Also, attention will be paid to pruning of green spaces and more than 240,000 m2 of lawn will be sown.
More than 30 types of flowers are grown in the district’s greenhouses. Most of the seedlings are acclimatized for Yamal and bloom well throughout the season. Among them are petunia, ageratum, seaside cineraria, marigolds, snapdragons, hybrid violet, begonia, salvia, sage, chrysanthemums, carnations, lilies and other plants.
Also, 10 species of tree and shrub seedlings will be planted in the settlements. These are spruces, larches, birches, mountain ash, maples, lilacs, apple trees, spireas, willows, hawthorn.
“Traditionally, plants of the most resistant species are planted in Yamal, which have shown good survival in the conditions of the harsh northern summer,” said Zemfira Tarasova, Deputy Director of the Tariff Policy, Energy and Housing and Communal Complex Department of the YaNAO.
