China’s first artificial intelligence agricultural robot has officially started round-the-clock inspections in the smart vegetable and fruit greenhouse of the China-Israel Demonstration Farm in the Haixia Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park of the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, marking that the Fujian artificial intelligence agricultural robot has officially entered the practical application from the research and development stage.
Seen in the Israeli demonstration farm, this robot looks like a white cartoon character with clear facial features and body. It can complete 360-degree rotation and movement through the wheels at the bottom and smoothly along the cultivation gutters, automatic inspection, fixed-point collection, automatic turning, automatic return, automatic charging, and automatic detouring if encountering obstacles on the way.
“We have developed integrated multi-channel sensor technology for this robot so that it has human-like facial features.” Zhao Jian, deputy director of the Institute of Digital Agriculture, Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said. Two 7-megapixel cameras are installed in the ears of the robot, two 5-megapixel cameras are installed in the eyes, and sensors such as wind speed, carbon dioxide, and photosynthetic radiation are installed on the top of the head. Temperature and humidity sensors are installed under the mouth to realize intelligent perception and real-time collection of agricultural production environments.
According to reports, compared with the sensors of the agricultural Internet of Things, this agricultural robot can move in real-time, not only collecting more points but also more comprehensive and accurate images and data. Compared with manual inspection, agricultural robots can work 24/7 and collect more detailed and continuous data.
If the robot is compared to a human, it is a sampling expert. But it has a wider range of perception, more types, and higher accuracy, and it does not get tired and can always collect a large amount of high-quality data and send it back to the platform at the same time. “Zhao Jian said that continuous, detailed, and huge basic data will help to better realize agricultural intelligence, refinement, and standardization, and it also means that more and better agricultural products can be produced in a smaller area.
At present, this robot can send back a large number of clear images and videos in real-time, which not only realizes remote consultation and remote training through VR but also provides more basic data sources for subsequent artificial intelligence applications.
