The Russian government increases the investment attractiveness of projects in vegetable growing in the Far East
The implementation of investment projects in vegetable growing continues in the Magadan region. The region intends to maximize the needs of residents in fresh vegetables of local production. This is facilitated by special mechanisms of state support. Details are in the material of the Vostok news agency.Today.
Construction of the first indoor vegetable production complex on Kolyma began in 2020. A private investor has purchased a 1.5-hectare plot for rent in the village of Talaya in the Khasyn district. To grow tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, berries, the entrepreneur decided to introduce Dutch technology.
Maximum vegetable comfort
The heating system of greenhouses is built through the supply of water from a geothermal source with a temperature of 90 degrees. The greenhouses have a powerful air conditioning system, ventilation, artificial irrigation, and an automatic irrigation system.
In July 2021, the complex was put into operation. At the end of last year, the farm shipped more than 57 tons of tomatoes, 173 tons of cucumbers, 1.5 tons of lettuce and almost a ton of strawberries. This berry was planted in the greenhouse in April 2021. Then, to assess the scale of the organization of industrial production of strawberries on the territory of Kolyma, the governor of the region Sergey Nosov came to the complex.
The company is gradually increasing its capacity: in the first half of this year alone, the volume of production of tomatoes has already amounted to 44 tons, cucumbers — 393 tons, and strawberries — 1.4 tons.
The total volume of investments in the organization of this production exceeded 716 million rubles.
Under the wing of state support
In 2020, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishutin, during a working trip to the Far Eastern Federal District, assessed the importance of developing greenhouse complexes in the Far East. Following the visit, it was decided to develop a financial mechanism to support such projects. So there was a tool to compensate up to 20% of the costs of private investors for the construction and modernization of greenhouses in the Far East.

A few days ago, the Russian government issued a decree on the allocation of financing to the complex in the village of Talaya. For these purposes, the federal budget provides more than 85 million rubles.
And this is not the only private initiative to organize greenhouse production of vegetables in the region. In July of this year, it was announced the construction of another three—hectare complex in Magadan, with a declared capacity of 1,600 tons of vegetables per year. The complex will grow 700 tons of tomatoes, more than 800 tons of cucumbers, as well as green crops and lettuce.
In addition, farmers partially cover the needs of residents for fresh vegetables in the spring and summer period. They grow vegetables on a total area of 1.42 hectares. The volume of production of farms is 200 tons of vegetables per year. All this together will increase the level of food security in the region.
