The subtropical botanical garden located at 160-1 Baeksan-ro, Uiryeong-eup was completed after four years of construction as a 1038㎡ glass greenhouse complex with a total project cost of 4.6 billion won. In the greenhouse, 3,702 plants of 280 subtropical plants such as papaya, apple mango, and coffee trees grow.
In the botanical garden, you can freely view various subtropical crops along the experience route. In addition, the Mars sculpture, wall greening, and the Little Prince photo zone welcome visitors.
The temperature inside the botanical garden maintains 17 degrees at night, which is rather chilly, but between 10 am and 4 pm, the viewing time, it reaches 25 degrees to a maximum of 30 degrees, so you can see subtropical plants in a warm temperature.
Uiryeong-gun is developing an educational experience program in connection with the Future Education Center (future education theme part) of the Gyeongsangnam-do Education Center, which is expected to attract 400,000 visitors each year, and the Insect Ecology Learning Center, which is gaining popularity due to an increase in family-unit tourists.
In addition, it is aspiring to present a new vision of Uiryeong agriculture through the installation of a cube-type plant factory that is attracting attention as a kind of future food industry and field trips for scientific farming demonstrations.
The subtropical botanical garden plans to undergo pilot operation by the end of this year and open permanently from next year.
Viewing hours are 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from April to October and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from November to March, free of charge.
