For more than 40 years, the largest greenhouse plant in Russia and Europe — JSC Agrokombinat Yuzhny — has been pleasing Russians with delicious, fresh, environmentally friendly vegetables. Today, as CEO Kemal Aybazov notes, the company is expanding its production facilities and improving the technology of growing vegetables, while ensuring their unsurpassed quality. Kemal Aybazov told Vestnik about the development of the company.
— Agrokombinat Yuzhny has been one of the flagships of the domestic greenhouse industry since Soviet times, the total area is 144 hectares — in this indicator it is leading not only in Russia, but also in Europe. The company also holds a leading position in terms of the production of indoor vegetables — over 45 thousand tons of tomatoes and cucumbers per year.
Karachay-Cherkessia is an ideal place for growing vegetables. There are about 300 sunny days a year here, melt water is used for irrigation from the upper reaches of the Kuban River, which originates among the glaciers of the Main Caucasian Ridge. Unique natural characteristics combined with the skill of agronomists make the vegetables of the “Southern” so tasty and healthy. The quality of the company’s products is confirmed by diplomas of the largest food exhibitions in Russia and the world.Currently, Yuzhny is a member of the Agroindustrial Complex “Vozrozhdenie” LLC group of companies — one of the largest agricultural companies in the South of Russia, uniting a number of agricultural enterprises. The production process in Yuzhny is provided by a central boiler house with a capacity of 728 Gcal, a mini-CHP with a capacity of 14 MW, an automotive workshop, engineering communications of electricity, heat, water, and wastewater. The plant has introduced a low-volume technology for growing vegetables using drip irrigation and a humidification system with the installation of equipment from Priva (Netherlands) and Volmatic (Denmark) to regulate the microclimate and metered fertilization.
An automated line from Visser (Netherlands) is used for sowing seeds. Plants are grown in a substrate of mineral wool, into which a solution with nutrients and fertilizers is continuously fed. There is no soil in greenhouses. At each department where tomatoes are grown, a Greefa machine (Netherlands) is installed, sorting fruits by weight and size.
Yuzhny has its own seedling complex, its own biological laboratory is developing. Variety tests are conducted annually, the number of hybrids reaches forty and above. Hybrids themselves are changing, their number is changing, new generation hybrids are being introduced. The experience of growing eggplants is interesting, which proved to be the best in the variety tests. In 2020, they were grown on an area of 3 hectares, and an increase in the cultivation area of 12 hectares was planned for the future turnover. In order to expand production areas in October 2020, a separate subdivision of JSC Agrokombinat Yuzhny — Rostov, consisting of 16.6 hectares of greenhouses of the fourth generation, was created. High-tech greenhouses with centralized computer control, designed for year-round cultivation of tomatoes and cucumbers, will significantly increase the number of products.
JSC Agrokombinat Yuzhny is a guarantor of stability for 2 thousand employees, is proud of dynasties and specialists who have been working here for many years, have gone with the team from becoming a dynamically developing enterprise.
