On November 18, the College of Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Management, located in the cities of Gusev and Ozersk, celebrated the 75th anniversary of the educational organization. At the solemn event, Dmitry Mirgaliev, a first-year student majoring in Agronomy, presented a working prototype of a smart greenhouse, among the features of which should be highlighted: automatic watering, automatic temperature maintenance, displaying information about the state of the internal environment on the display of the greenhouse itself and the smartphone display, and even changing the backlight colors. Each plant has its own light, says the website “Education News”.
To open the greenhouse door, you should bring a “pass”. Or use the commands of the telegram bot, however, some remote capabilities (temperature change, door opening) are possible only after entering the password.
The development of such an invention took more than a month of daily painstaking work. Everything — from 3D modeling of elements to soldering and programming, Dmitry implemented independently in the college laboratory. In order for the product, which took two coils of ABS plastic, several arduino chips, as well as many additional elements and modules to work and function correctly, Dmitry had to write more than 800 lines of code.
At the same time, the author of the project himself does not plan to become a programmer or a roboticist — take the above, he wants to introduce programming and robotics into agriculture. And if at the age of 16 a person designs such a complex system, the future of agricultural technologies is in safe hands.
