The Government of the Russian Federation will increase the volume of state support for potato and other vegetable producers in the Kaliningrad region. An increased coefficient was established for them when calculating and distributing federal subsidies. As reported on the official website of the Government of the Russian Federation, the decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
So, for the Kaliningrad region, such a coefficient will be equal to 1.2. “We are talking about calculating subsidies that will be allocated to farmers from 2023 as part of the new federal project “Development of vegetable and potato growing”. State support is provided for carrying out agrotechnological works, for the production of potatoes and vegetables in open and protected soils — in greenhouses using additional illumination technology,” the message says.
The amount of the subsidy will depend on the volume of production. Such a solution will help farmers to increase production in order to provide people with fresh products all year round. The new federal project “Development of vegetable and potato growing” will start on January 1, 2023.
In the Kaliningrad region, according to the results of 2022, farms of all categories predict a gross harvest of potatoes in the amount of 123 thousand tons, vegetables of open and closed ground — 70 thousand tons. “The region fully provides itself with potatoes, self—sufficiency in the main group of vegetables produced by the “borscht set” (cabbage, carrots, beets) is 88%,” Kaliningrad was told.En in the press service of the regional government.
